The days are already getting shorter and there was even reported snow out west.I think is is time for a nice herbal recipe.
                          Lovage and Basil Soup
2 tbl.butter
1 tbl.canola oil
2 cups chopped yellow onions
1/2 pound potatoes,peeled and cut into 1/2" pieces
1/4 cup lovage ,coarsely chopped stems and leaves
2 cups vegetable stock
1/2 cup dry white wine
1/2 cup water
1 cup fresh basil leaves

Heat butter in saucepan,add onions and cook stirring for about
6 minutes.Add lovage and potatoes and cook,stirring for about 5 minutes.Add stock and broth,wine,and water cover.Reduce heat to low and simmer until potatoes are very tender,about 10 minutes.Add the basil and cook for 30 seconds.Remove from heat and puree in a blender ,food processor or food mill.Serve immediately or refrigerate and serve cold.
